While there are many gaming controllers for sale, I recommend getting an 8BitDo Pro 2 controller. From my experience, I've used this controller for hundreds of hours, and it still feels great! My previous controller was a wired Xbox 360 controller, which a lot of people loved. The 8BitDo Pro 2 feels like a whole new experience (in a good way).

The 8BitDo Pro 2 has strong build quality; the buttons, triggers, and analog sticks have held up great after months of using. It also feels very responsive both while using it wired or wirelessly. Many people love the D-pad on the Pro 2 for 2D platformer and side-scrollers games. The rumble in this controller also feels satisfying while playing, and you can adjust them easily to how you want.

The Microsoft Xbox Controller has some durability issues reported by many, like stick drift or triggers not working after a while. It doesn't mean that ALL of them will be like this, but I can't fully recommend these knowing this information.

Why Not Use a Playstation Controller for PC?

The Playstation DualSense Controller is difficult for some to set up and use for PC gaming, as Sony does not officially support it for use on Windows.

It is possible to use the DualSense controller if you know what you're doing, though. It's just not fully plug and play. There are still many people who are playing on their PC with a DualSense Controller and loving it.

A popular indie software, DS4Windows, can help with some incompatibilities and missing features when trying to plug and play.
